The 3D BuildOne printer offers automatic bed leveling and WiFi connectivity for only $ 99
Robotic Industries LLC, based in Washington, launched the Kickstarter campaign for the 3D printer from BuildOne, $ 99 with WiFi and automatic leveling of the bed. The campaign reached nearly $ 40,000 of its $ 100,000 target.
In 2017, 100 dollars will not even allow you a year of Netflix. Soon you will only need a bowl of cereal. But good business makers can rejoice, because Robotic Industries just launched a Kickstarter for what needs to be the most affordable crowdfunded 3D printer of the year, yes, it's less than $ 100.
At a whopping $ 99, the new BuildOne does not shout immediately "high quality", but the 3D FDM printer supported by Kick Starter is not as fragile as you might think.
The printing of the 3D budget printer looks like the simplest of RepRaps, but the new and affordable 3D printer is actually equipped with relatively advanced features. Wireless? Check. Automatic leveling of the bed? Affirmative. Mobile support via a dedicated cloud platform? Heck yes. The machine even offers an automatic calibration.
And as if this list was not impressive enough for such a cheap 3D printer, the BuildOne is even compatible with a number of add-ons, which you will not find on the 3D printers two or three times as expensive.
These add-ons include a PEI bed for "easy printing removal and superior grip", an OLED display and joystick control to view and control print progress, a heated bed for printing with ABS And a complete case and case for carrying the 3D "Compact and portable" printer.
With the 3D printer available at such a low price, many manufacturers will see the BuildOne as a fun hacking project. As a result, the machine uses an open version, a modified version of the Marlin firmware. "We have added the ability to communicate the main unit via I2C to reduce cabling requirements and allow for future upgrades," says Robotic Industries. Users can also choose between the printer's custom printing application or their own favourite software.
"3D printers are amazing devices, they facilitate invention, creation or repair," says Robotic Industries. "But they remain very expensive or very difficult to use".
The BuildOne seeks to change all this by offering a FDM 3D printer loaded with features at one of the lowest prices on the market. The 3D printer is supposed to be "built to last", being made with quality parts that are easy to repair or replace, and is recommended for home, business and classroom use.
The new 3D printer has a construction volume of 125 x 125 x 125 mm, with a minimum height of 50 microns. Its resolution XY is 20 microns.
The BuildOne base edition is available via Kickstarter for $ 99, but there are also more complete packages that contain some of the add-ons mentioned. An additional $ 14 will give you a PEI building plate; $ 49 you will get the PEI plate. As well as a heated update of the bed and display; $ 74 will bring you all the above, plus a full box and a carrying case.
